Hurricane update

I just talked to Lindsey at 8:00 tonight. They were in the car, heading to Baton Rouge, to their friend Emily's friend's house. Lindsey said it is quite an experience. The mayor was on the radio saying to get out of the city. She said Katrina had a radius of 300 miles, and this storm has radius of 900. She said the 100 mph winds are expected to reach Baton Rouge, so that city might be evacuated as well. Her friend Emily's parents live in Texas, and if need be, they'll drive the 8 hrs there. She said they were at a stand still for about 2 hours on the road, but traffic is finally moving now. They put their stuff up high in their house, in plastic containers and are hoping for the best. Please keep them in your thoughts, I can try and update as I hear.

First Football Game

We went to a pre-football game party tonight at Julie and Kevin's. You may recognized the kids from previous "play dates", with the edition of Leif Sundquist. Well, it is nearly impossible to get 5 toddlers to sit still for a picture. So this is the best i got!
Leif, Joey, Meghan, Norah, Leo, and Will...
We had to go support Coach Cremers at the first football game of the season. Unfortunately I think they lost by one point. We left at 7:30.. also impossible to get a toddler to sit in the stands to watch a game. It was a beautiful night though!

Injury by sippy cup

Those of you that know me well, will just shake your head I"m sure. We were at my in-laws, and I was walking in from the deck inside to the kitchen, Joey had dropped his sippy cup, and i proceeded to step on it, fall, and somehow bruise the heck out of my left foot. So, I've been limping around all day. I have no idea how my day is going to go tomorrow, because I usually have around 13-15 patients on Mondays, and half are kids...
Derek managed to survive his 15th year playing softball/camping out at the Embarrass Fair.
Joey is officially 17 months old, and his favorite word is "NO!"... and we all have summer colds. I thought Joey would be up all night last night with a cough, but it was the dogs who took turns every hour starting at 11:00 having to go outside to go potty... That's life at the Aho household!

Joey was playing hide and go seek with Winfrey. He loves hiding in my closet.
We went down to Cloquet to visit my friend Amber and her two kids, Aspen and Hunter.

Thank goodness it's summer. We can get messy and then go outside in the pool or sprinkler and clean up!

Family Day at Mittal Steel

Derek's work had a family day today, so we went up to the mine after Joey's nap. This is one of the loaders that they use to load the haul trucks. I think this piece of equipment was like $4 million dollars.
I love this picture too. They have the box tipped back so you can see how big it is...craziness
This is the newest haul truck, I think it was like $2.3 million dollars. Derek drove this one the other day..

Joey didn't want to get down. He is so in to trucks, machines, tractors, etc. So this was a very special day for him!

the day ended with...

ice cream...
and the sprinkler!! This kid loves to be outside and water. We drag him in the house at 7:00 every night, for bath and bed.

Joey's first trim

We brought Joey in to have Grandma Nancy trim his bangs so they were out of his face. We left the back long, so he kind of has an 80's mullet thing going on... but i think the 80's are coming back. So he's cool..

Happy 10th Birthday Drew!!

Our nephew Drew turned 10 today! Yes.. he is a Packer's fan. His Grandma and Grandpa Goulet live in Wisconsin.
We never know what's going to happen or what he will be wearing when he walks out of Hailey's room!
Joey loved eating the raspberries off his cousin's plants.
